saddle mountain beaded earrings - pil chickamin

This beaded piece made by Beading Hearts is a labor of precision and determination—these Pacific Northwest Indigenous earrings were stitched bead by bead over the course of three focused hours, inspired by traditional basket weave and wood carving patterns. They were weaved on a loom and then flat stitched to pellon, backed with buckskin leather. “pil chickamin” translates to gold or copper metal in Chinook Wawa. 

Beading Hearts uses only the highest quality materials for their flatstitch beadwork, using sterling silver, genuine copper metal domes, glass miyuki delica beads and ethically-sourced buckskin leather from local hunters/artists in Okanogan, Washington.

This is slow fashion rooted in Indigenous artistry: timeless, sacred.
